The Fire.

Sun filled days of delusion times
mock me now
and leave no room for unhappiness
a few dreams tipped out
libation to the gods
lets the now come flooding in
I sit in front of the fire
release of summer’s sun
and beat of birds’ wing undone
memories in branches now felled, and
heaped upon the grate of past, -
present and future stilled.

  1. This is just beautiful, Niall. I especially love the. third stanza. The mild rhyme adds a nice flow to the words.
