Wind for the lamb,
rain for the calf,
sun for the foal,
and if you can hang
your hat and coat on the moon,
its a sure sign of bad weather to come.
Mare's tails and mackerel scales
make tall ships take in their sails,
and a rainbow in the morning
gives you fair warning.
But between dusk and dawn,
not a single heartbeat is missed
out of fear that the cycle will end,
and the columns of Ephesus were cut
not by giants, but by cords of silk,
as the minds of men were whispered into
being
by winds that cared not why, or where they blew.

Nicely spun!
ReplyDeleteLoved this. Remember - red sky at morning, sailors take warning, red sky at night, sailor's delight?
ReplyDeleteLoved that last bit!
