Flags

pigs are to flying,

just as flags
are for flying.

the goldy bit

on top
is to kill.

the design

is to authorise
death by imprimatur.

flags are for folding

the ultimate reward
for sacrificing
your only son.

    1. Things have not changed much since then Ron. Symbols (flags) are still used to assume the role of responsibility for the collective and individual actions. Savagery and barbarity have always been more easily sold when 'branded'.

  2. Such a powerful poem Niall. And so true, humanity must mean more than the symbols stitched into flags, or we spend our forevers folding our mourning hearts.
