I laugh aloud as I
watch
from my casement window,
seeing the grey heads
who have known
each other
all their lives,
seamlessly sorting
themselves to right and left,
who have known
each other
all their lives,
seamlessly sorting
themselves to right and left,
separating
into
catlick and prodistant,
catlick and prodistant,
ultimately melting
into their respective
plots of ground,
into their respective
plots of ground,
neatly packaged
and labeled.
In life as in death:
Homo Almost Sapiens.
and labeled.
In life as in death:
Homo Almost Sapiens.

Alexander read my mind and beat me to it, couldn't agree more - love the wordplay!! You don't miss a thing Mr O Connor - you see the world through the most honest and observant eyes. Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteGreat observation as only a poet could present it
ReplyDeleteBrings to mind the song title, "The Grand Parade of Lifeless Packaging" by Genesis.
